Where to Stay in Joshua Tree, California | The Shack Attack

This revitalized 1957 cabin in Joshua Tree, California is lovingly referred to as The Shack Attack. We adore all 480 square feet of this home and are sure you will too! If the modern bohemian decor and mid-century vibes aren't enough to steal your heart, the wide open high desert landscape definitely will. Peace, quiet, and desert views that stretch for miles - what more could you ask of a secluded desert oasis?

IDEAL FOR...
travelers seeking a unique desert stay, close enough to enjoy attractions and remote enough to enjoy privacy and a quiet escape.

TAKE NOTE
The Shack Attack is filled with personal touches from the owners, Kathrin and Brian, who purchased the home at a tax auction for only $7000. They designed and rebuilt the home themselves, including intentional design pieces that honor both the home's original story and new life. The stained glass window art, hand-painted planters, fiber art wall hangings, and several salvaged furniture and decors pieces were all made by the owners themselves.

AMENITIES + FLOORPLAN
Kitchen area, parking, wifi, heating + air conditioning, patio, outdoor soaking tub, king size bed, outdoor dining table + seating, covered outdoor living, keypad lock system, record player with curated collection of vinyl records

PACKING TIPS
Bring snacks, drinks, and groceries to store in the fridge. The Shack Attack is a remote cabin and you'll want to maximize your time there, rather than driving 15-20 minutes back into town to grab a bite to eat multiple times per day. The kitchen is stocked with salt, pepper, olive oil, pots, pans, and dishes. We really enjoyed cooking and eating at home during our stay.

RATES + BOOKING
Rates begin at $145 nightly plus a booking and cleaning fee. More info about booking and pricing can be found The Shack Attack website. Click here to receive $40 off your stay if it is your first time using AirBnb.

WITHIN ARM'S REACH
An entrance to Joshua Tree National Park is located about 25 minutes drive from the cabin. Our favorite time to visit is during the hour just before sunset, when the temperature cools down and the sky turns a gorgeous purple/pink. For those looking to explore a littler further, Palm Springs is just a one hour drive southwest.

LOCATION
There are several small airports surrounding Joshua Tree and both Los Angeles and San Diego are within about 3 hours drive of the cabin. When you get closer to The Shack Attack, be prepared to drive on sandy desert backroads!
