Amboise Troglodyte | Nazelles-Négron, France
This Amboise Troglodyte is the perfect French countryside escape only a few hours outside of Paris. This troglodyte (cave home) is nestled in the Loire Valley just outside the character-filled city of Amboise and has been recently remodeled to give you a taste of refined luxury in the charming and unique accommodation of a troglodyte.
any and all travelers with an appreciation for great food and wine, historic châteaux, and intentional living in the French countryside
The Amboise Troglodyte is run by locals Alexis and Lotte, who manage three renovated troglodyte cave homes in the area. The other two accommodations are one bedroom, perfect for a couple or solo traveler, while this property has plenty of space for two couples or a family. Alexis and Lotte are very friendly and had wonderful recommendations for things to see, eat, and do near the troglodyte. They can also provide a home cooked, locally sourced breakfast for an additional fee, which we highly recommend.
Complimentary parking on site, two queen beds, patio with a yard, outdoor dining table + seating, grill, television and wifi, a fully equipped kitchen, towel warmer, laundry available upon request
This cozy property was like a home away from home for us. We were able to pack light and keep our packing list simple; this home already has everything you'll need.

WITHIN ARM'S REACH
There are several historic châteaux within just a short drive of the home. Within 10 minutes drive you'll reach the city of Amboise, home to Château d'Amboise (where Leonardo da Vinci is buried), cobblestone roads lined with bakeries and shops, and an incredible view of the Loire River. We suggest parking in the city center near Château d'Amboise and spending your day exploring by foot. While in town, plan to shop at the local farmer's market or shop for ingredients to whip up simple homemade meals in the kitchen. We highly recommend purchasing locally made goat cheese rolled in ash (particular to this area and our personal favorite!)
This home is about a half hour drive from Saint-Pierre-des-Corps train station, which is two hours train ride outside of Paris. Renting a car made navigating the small towns in central France much easier. Public transportation in the smaller towns is a bit trickier to come by than in the more metropolitan areas immediately surrounding Paris.
